Reading slumps, we've all had them, and I'm pretty sure we all hate them. No matter how much you want to read, your brain just refuses. I don't known if it's just me, but I hate reading slumps because it makes me feel like nothing is getting done. Recently, I have been a reading slump, since school started, it just seems like I have no time for reading. Especially when I'm juggling 4 AP classes in one semester, imagine all the homework I have to do! I haven't really read a book in 3 weeks, it's not my longest slump, but it is definitely one of the longer ones. All my friends know I love to read, so when they figure out, or when I tell them, I haven't read a book in 3 weeks, they immediately start freaking out and refuse to believe it.

I started the book the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave for school, as it is a required read. I honestly just forced myself to get it done because we got Thursday and Friday off from school, due to Hurricane Florence, and I had nothing better to do with my life. I think it went okay, I was able to become engaged with the story and I annotated using sticky notes to make sure that I was understanding what was going on. Well, during this process, I guess my brain, still lacking of reading books, read the word ushered as u-she-red (oo-she(eh)-red). I had to take at least a minute to comprehend this word in my head and when I realized how to pronounce the word, I just couldn't stop laughing. What a literal face-palm! I'm hoping that the start of reading this book will finally get me out of this long overdue slump I've been in.

ALWAYS Keep Reading (unless you are in a reading slump),

Anicka
